I recently attended the opening night exhibit of “Pop Icons: Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein” at the Monterey Museum of Art – La Mirada. Below is the event invitation cover, featuring artwork by Andy Warhol entitled Liz, created in 1964, in the form of a color offset lithograph.

Pop artis an art movementthat emerged in the mid 1950s in Britainand in the late 1950s in the United States.Pop art employs aspects ofmass culture, such asadvertising, comic booksand mundane cultural objects.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_art)

The museum brought the exhibit to life for party attendees by creating a workstation called Andy Warhol Factory, which enabled guests to draw their own pop art images, and play dress-up in pop art style fashions.
