Zumba Fitness Craze

Zumbathe fun-filled, heart-pumping aerobic dance workout, has been sweeping the nation over the past couple years. Everyone from fitness buffs to exercise newbies have been hitting the dance floor and busting a move. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re probably wondering, “what’s gotten everyone in such a tizzy over this workout?”.

To start with, Zumba helps you blast hundreds of calories in just an hour – more than power yoga or cardio kickboxing. In addition, the dance routines are coordinated with electrifying, upbeat music. The Zumba instructors guide you along a series of latin-based dance moves, starting with warm-ups and stretches, toning and strengthening exercises, and cool-down routines. But the best part is, it’s so fun that you don’t realize you’re working out (even though you’ll definitely be sweating).

Zumba classes are held at studios throughout the nation, and offer a range of options, including cardio-focused or toning/strengthening classes. If you’re not up for joining a group of folks, that’s ok. Zumba even sells DVDs, so you can workout in the privacy of your own home.

Definitely make sure to stretch well, and don’t over-do it (I’m talking to you zealous types!). Since this is definitely a fast-paced fitness class, you’ll want to ensure your body is able to handle all the moves, without causing injury. In addition, it’s important to stay well-hydrated both before, during, and after the class.

If you’re looking to shake-up your summer exercise regime, consider doing Zumba. It’s a blast!
