CLP: What is your professional background, and specifically how does jewelry design come into play?

JZ: I have been in the fashion industry for over 25 years. I first started my career selling men’s dress shirts. I’ve always had a passion for accessories, everything from handbags, shoes, and jewelry. Jewelry can be expensive and I wanted to bring my customer’s affordable, feminine pieces inspired from my own jewelry I have acquired over the years.

The inspiration behind the Jill Zarin Jewelry Collection came from my desire to have a line that was affordable and clearly represented my taste and style. My jewelry and accessories have definitely been a topic of conversation over the years and I wanted to share some of my favorite pieces with everyone at affordable prices. I like my jewelry to be bold and colorful. They should be something someone notices and become a topic of conversation. Jewelry can often be a way for people to connect.

I’m heavily involved in the inspiration and design of the collection. The collection features designs that embody my lifestyle and is made up of 2 distinct lines.

NYC Signature Classics collection is inspired by my NYC life, with vignettes named after NY locales – and retails from $18 to $78:
  • DOWNTOWN – edgy vibe with downtown sophistication
  • UPPER EAST SIDE – Tiffany’s inspired look of real
  • BROADWAY – Clever interpretations of Classic NYC motifs
  • CHINATOWN – Eclectic Global inspired styling
  • CENTRAL PARK – All my favorite animals and critters
  • LINCOLN CENTER – A Glitzy night out on the town

Fashion Statement Collections are inspired by my many travels around the world and reflect my inspirations from each experience and locale. Unique, bold and colorful like me – best describes the essence of these collections that retail from $28 – $150.

The Runway collection will be in stores August through October and reflects my inspirations from attending the Fashion Week runway shows

I am so pleased with the collection as it truly reflects my taste and lifestyle and incorporates key motifs that I am a big fan of such as:
  • Red Carpet Menagerie is a fabulous glitzy holiday interpretation of my love of animals and will be in stores November and December
  • Good luck charms to give the wearer good vibes like Evil Eyes, Buddhas, Hamsa and Fortune Cookies
  • Animals that I LOVE: Monkeys, Owls and Pigs
  • And items that I love to wear: Rings, Lariats and Hoops
It was important that my collection not only be affordable, on-trend and fashionable, but also of the highest quality and value. With proper care, my jewelry will last for many years. Fashion jewelry is often thought of as disposable due to the wide array of low quality products that flood the market place; however, my customer recognizes phenomenal value. GLITTERRINGS’ expertise in manufacturing high-quality, affordable jewelry allows me to achieve the fine look and outstanding detail of the Jill Zarin Jewelry Collection.

In today’s economy, you can easily and inexpensively change your outfit by adding a chic piece of jewelry. My jewelry collection has very affordable pieces that can make any outfit look new just by adding an interesting jewelry accent. You don’t have to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a new outfit….adding new jewelry is a great way to update your wardrobe affordably.

I designed my jewelry collection with my broad fan base in mind. You’ll find playful layering pendants and sophisticated statement pieces- there’s something to appeal to every age group.

MATERIALS include:
  • 14k Gold plating

CLP: What or who influences your design esthetic and/or personal style?
JZ: Everything inspires me. My travels inspire me the most. Every time I come home from a trip I have a thousand new jewelry ideas and designs. I have over 1,000,000 fans around the world who have become my friends. We share ideas with each other and often they will inspire me to design something they are looking for. As a “solution based” brand I find this open communication very helpful to design what women are looking for.”
CLP: How would you describe your style in 3 words?
JZ: Adventurous, Comfortable, Timeless.
CLP: What inspires you on a daily basis?
JZ: This may sound strange but the weather sets my mood every day. My favorite ones are when it rains non-stop so I don’t feel guilty staying home and reading a good book or doing research for my next collection. I’m a voracious reader and can’t get enough good blogs to read.
CLP: Do you think New York City fashion/style differs from California (or anywhere else)?
JZ: I think every city has its own “signature”. No two streets are the same let alone an entire city. Sure some cities might remind you of another but no two are alike. Conversely fashion does tend to transfer from person to person and with TV and National magazines transmitting the same fashion trends and all the national retailers buying the same merchandise for all the stores (with the exception of very warm climates in the winter who might get some clothing specific to their climate) it would only make sense that Trends are carried East to West and West to East.
CLP: How has the “Real Housewives of New York City” impacted your life?
JZ: I am so grateful to Bravo and my co stars for giving me a once in a lifetime experience. I learned so much about the entertainment business, PR and social media. I would do it all over again if given the chance..but next time listen to my husband more!
CLP: Is there anything else you want to share with the Inspirations & Celebrations’ readers?
JZ: When I was 14 I wanted to be a professional ice skater and that my mother would drive me 45 minutes to Long Beach, Long Island where i skated from 5am-7am four days a week for almost three years until a horseback riding injury ended my ‘career aspirations’.
