As Diane von Furstenberg says, “the most important relationship is the one you have with yourself.” With that said, one of the best ways to strengthen your relationship with yourself is to have a regular self-care practice.
To inspire you to celebrate Self-Care Saturday, you’re invited to join me tomorrow (Saturday at 9 am PST) for a new Amazon Live Stream. I’ll be sharing several of my favorite self-care products and tips, including clean non-toxic skincare, haircare, diet and nutrition, and wellness products. I encourage you to tune in, ask live questions, and learn how to naturally look and feel your best.
Self-Care Tips
To help you enhance your self-care routine, here are 3 tips to get you started.
- Schedule time each day (even if it’s just 20-minutes) to de-stress, unwind, and focus on what makes you feel good. This could be a meditation, a yoga or Pilates workout, or just pampering yourself with skincare and beauty treatments. The whole point is to make yourself a priority while relaxing and relieving mental and emotional stress. This is so important, as it helps you boost feel-good hormones that revitalize and rejuvenate your cells.
- Shift your inner narrative towards positivity. We all have an inner critic, usually one who’s critical, judgmental, negative, and prone to fixate on our flaws or problems. Give that inner “mean girl” the boot, and instead, focus on strengthening the voice of your inner “cheerleader” instead – that voice that motivates, inspires, and empowers you. When you change your internal narrative, your outlook, attitude, and self-perception evolve as well.
- Create a positive daily affirmation that enhances how you look and feel. I like to tell myself, “I am ageless”. The more that I learn about subconscious programming, the more I realize that our words have a major influence on the development of our cellular structure. Essentially, we can change our DNA just through our thoughts and emotions (scientific studies are starting to prove this). So, start to change your mental beliefs by reframing your thoughts towards what you want to see, feel, and experience. I’ve been telling myself “I am ageless” for the past few months, and ironically, I’ve never heard so many compliments from people about how “young” I look. Even 20-somethings are shocked when they find out that I just turned 40. So, I guess my affirmations are working!
