Get a Deluxe Artificial Christmas Tree

Growing up, I recall our family spending hours (and lots of money) shopping for a live Christmas tree. While we loved the fresh pine smell and the rustic charm that the real tree added to our home, the mounting costs (which seem to increase every year) and increased time and labor (especially when it came time to dispose of the dead tree) became more of a burden than it was worth.

A couple of years ago, my boyfriend introduced me to his (very real-looking) deluxe artificial Christmas tree. Quite frankly – I was impressed. “That’s fake?! It looks so real, no one would know!” I exclaimed.

In less than 20 minutes, our gorgeous and picture-perfect tree was set-up and ready to decorate (which only took an additional 10 minutes), because the lights were already built-in to the branches. Talk about a gift from Santa! Gone were the days of getting poked by branches while trying to string lights on the tree (that would inevitably burn out).

Oh yeah, and did I mention the fact that our tree is now connected to our smart home system? That means we can easily turn on, turn off, and even dim the tree lights with just a voice command. Pretty neat, huh?!

If you’re a perfectionist like me, then you will go gaga over an artificial Christmas tree. Not only can you bend the branches to make the tree look fuller, but it also enables you to perfectly hang ornaments. It’s not only a huge time-saver, but it also saves you money year-over-year.

So if you want to save time decorating your home for the holidays, definitely consider buying a deluxe artificial Christmas tree. They’re well worth the investment.

Faux-Fur Throws Up The Cozy Factor

In our living room, we have mid-century style leather Barcelona chairs. While they’re sleek and stylish to look at, during winter (especially), they’re very cold to sit on. That’s why adding a luxe-looking faux-fur throw not only makes the chair warmer to sit on, but it also creates a cozier, more inviting appearance.

Install Smart Lighting

One of the most brilliant ways to make your home look brighter and warmer is with lighting. Instead of calling your electrician and paying a hefty bill, opt for easy-to-install smart lighting.

We added Philips Hue LightStrip Plus Dimmable LED Smart Light Extension (which works with Alexa Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant) to our living room built-in bookshelf. Not only does this allow us to turn on, turn off, and even dim the bookcase lighting with just a voice command, it can also change color (which my boyfriend thinks is especially fun for holiday parties!).

We also installed a couple Philips Hue Go Portable Lights under one of the Barcelona chairs and behind our Christmas tree. This added a warm ambiance to our living room, making it feel even more inviting. What’s especially neat about these smart lights is that they can be used without plugging into the wall, as they feature a built-in battery, in addition to the ability to plug-in via an electrical outlet. So, it makes them especially versatile.

Candlelight Adds Ambiance

Throughout our home, you’ll always find candles. A few great winter accessories I love include the hurricane lanterns we have placed on our fireplace mantle. Not only does this give our home that cozy winter vibe, but it also encourages us to get tucked in on chilly evenings, as lit candles always create a warm ambiance.

Santa Claus Figurines Add Holiday Charm

Because we should always believe in the magic of the holiday season, a festive Santa Claus figurine is an easy way to add instant holiday charm to an entry table. I found this adorable little guy (for under $50!) on Amazon recently, and have enjoyed adding him to our holiday decor. Plus, he’s a playful way to welcome guests into our home.

Pine Cones Add a Rustic Holiday Touch

In addition to the Santa Claus figurine, I added a few pine cones on the decorative tray that sits on our entry table. Since we keep this tray out year-round (as it houses a few candles), I was able to decorate our entry area in less than 5 minutes with these little accents that added a rustic holiday touch.

Heading into our dining area, our wine rack got updated for the holidays with a few large pine cones. Since we have a semi-open floor plan, this helped tie-in the entry area into our dining room.

Create an Evergreen Table Centerpiece

While I usually enjoy adding fresh flowers to our dining table (which can get costly), this year I decided to keep things simple by creating an evergreen table centerpiece.

I found this enchanting mini tree display (that features 3 artificial Christmas trees on a wooden stand), and cost only $16! I created a bed of moss underneath and added a few little pine cones for the finishing touch. This adorable table centerpiece was so easy to put together and will look great throughout the entire holiday season.

When the holidays are over, I can easily put these items away, and bring them back out again next year.

Illuminate Outside Spaces

Since we often enjoy going out on our patio, an easy way to make the exterior feel as warm and inviting as the interior of our home is with lighting. To simplify our lives, we installed the Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance Outdoor 5m strip to our patio banister. What’s especially appealing about these lights (in addition to being smart lights), is that we can dim them to our liking. Plus, it makes our home feel festive all year long.

As you can see, by opting for a few smart purchases, decorating your home for the holidays can take less than an hour. Plus, you can save yourself a lot of money by investing in holiday decorations that can be used year after year.
