When we feel good, we can take on the world and accomplish wonders. That’s why a healthy diet, regular exercise, and proper nutrition can help us naturally feel less sluggish.
While I regularly workout and eat a well-balanced diet, I like to challenge myself occasionally. To motivate myself to stick with my health and fitness goals this spring, I recently took the Metamucil Two-Week Challenge.
Why I Did The Metamucil Two-Week Challenge
Since getting ample fiber each day is vital for optimum digestive health, I was curious to discover how Metamucil could help my overall wellness routine.
When we binge on processed foods, simple carbs, and sugars (which I’m guilty of, especially around the holidays), our bodies don’t function properly. As a result, we feel sluggish, tired, and less-than-motivated to stay fit and healthy.
With spring break quickly approaching, I decided to ramp up my diet with the Metamucil Two-Week Challenge.
How The Metamucil Two-Week Challenge Works
Metamucil contains psyllium, a natural super fiber that traps and removes the waste that weighs you down so you can start to feel lighter* in two weeks. Over the course of this two-week period, I easily increased my consumption of fiber with 1-2 servings of Metamucil each day.
The increase in fiber helped me feel less sluggish and motivated to stick with my health and fitness goals. While this pleasant-tasting powder can easily be taken with water alone, I love whipping it into a high-fiber superfood smoothie (recipe listed below!). Not only is this smoothie full of nutritious ingredients (like Vitamin C-rich citrus fruits, anti-inflammatory Turmeric, and probiotic yogurt), it actually tastes great!
NOTE: Since I usually eat high-fiber foods (like fresh fruits, whole grains, and veggies), my body is used to processing fiber. For some people who introduce fiber into their diet, they might experience occasional bloating. However, this symptom will often subside as your body adjusts to your increased intake of fiber.
High-Fiber Superfood Smoothie Recipe:
Ingredients
- 4 Clementines (or Mandarin oranges)
- ½ cup crushed ice
- 8 oz. water
- 2 tbsp Metamucil powder
- 2 tbsp ground Cinnamon
- 1 tbsp Turmeric
- 2 scoops low-fat Greek Vanilla Yogurt
- Dash of Himalayan Rock Salt
Directions
- In a blender, mix all ingredients together for 2-4 minutes at a high speed (until fully smooth).
- Pour into a glass and drink immediately.
How The Metamucil Two-Week Challenge Can Benefit You

Even when the Metamucil Two-Week Challenge ends, that doesn’t mean that you have to stop adding fiber to your daily wellness routine, keep up the good work and continue to take it every day!
†Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 7 grams of soluble fiber per day from psyllium husk, as in Metamucil, may reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering cholesterol. One serving of Metamucil Powder has at least 2.4 grams of this soluble fiber. Consult a doctor if you are considering use of this product as part of a cholesterol-lowering program.

Linda says:
Can a person take Metamucil and a probiotic at the same time?
Christina-Lauren says:
Hi Linda, I’d recommend asking your Doctor this. I never experienced any problem with it – as the probiotic helps to add “healthy bacteria” to the gut, and fiber in Metamucil helps eliminate toxins. But, everybody is different. So talk to your Doctor first.

Can a person take a probiotic and Metamucil both in one day?

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and recipe – even more encouragement to give the Metamucil Challenge a go!
I hate to ask, but have to ask…would you define “scoop” please?
The ingredients image looks like it could be two ice cream scoops, but as an absolute hater of Greek yogurt, but a gamer to try your smoothie as a way of getting the Metamucil down, I’d love to be sure I’m not being wasteful one way or the other!
Thank you!
Christina-Lauren says:
I’d recommend 2 tablespoons, but you can vary this to your liking. Hope you enjoy the Metamucil Two-Week Challenge, and that it gives you the motivation to stick with your health and fitness goals this year!
