I’ve never been a vegan or a vegetarian, but I’ve always believed in the incredible power of a plant-based diet. Ever since learning how whole foods (like fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, and legumes) can radically improve our skin, hair, and overall wellness, I’ve become an advocate for consuming a primarily plant-based diet.
“The Game Changers” – A Powerful Documentary about a Plant-Based Diet
Over the years, I’ve been researching more about how a plant-based diet can dramatically transform our bodies, improve our wellness, and help to prevent illnesses and diseases. One of the recent Netflix documentaries I watched (at the prompting of friends and family) was James Cameron’s film called “The Game Changers”.
This powerful and moving documentary was not only enlightening (as it scientifically explained how our bodies metabolize and process animal proteins differently than plant-based proteins), but it also featured several plant-based Olympic and professional athletes and bodybuilders (including Arnold Schwarzenegger) who have gone on to victory.
My Personal Experience Eating Mostly a Plant-Based Diet
While I haven’t become a vegan, I have transitioned into a mostly plant-based diet in recent months.
Surprisingly, my energy levels and physical endurance have increased greatly, my body is stronger than it ever has been, and I have fewer health issues (like reduced back pain, which was mostly due to inflammation and scar tissue). I’ve also noticed that my skin is more youthful, radiant and clear than ever (so much so, that a college kid recently thought I was in my 20’s… which is funny to me, considering I’m over 35).
For all these reasons and more, adopting a plant-based diet has become one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
How a Plant-Based Diet Can Transform Your Body

In addition to fueling the brain and body with vital nutrients, the film shows how a plant-based diet can help to nourish the body with powerful anti-inflammatory properties, essential vitamins, and antioxidants.

The documentary went on to show how 14 NFL athletes from the Tennesee Titans adopted a plant-based diet and surprised everyone when they took their team to the playoffs. It also featured interviews with countless bodybuilders, professional athletes, and medical experts who had studied, witnessed, and experienced the power that a plant-based diet can have on the development of a healthy, strong body.
How To Easily Transition to a Plant-Based Diet
Most people think that a plant-based diet means living off salads all day. Well, that’s completely untrue. Not only can a plant-based diet be filling, empowering, and nourishing, but it can also be delicious and easy to adopt.
From protein-rich sources like tofu, beans, and nuts to fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, there’s no shortage of incredible whole foods to choose from. Plus, when you cook with healthy oils (like avocado oil and coconut oil), herbs and spices, it makes plant-based dishes super flavorful. Here’s a great recipe for herb-roasted vegetables to get you started. This is one of my go-to dinner recipes which is very easy to make and tastes awesome.
Another easy way to transition to a plant-based diet is through healthy smoothies. As an example, try whipping up a green detox smoothie containing a cup of leafy greens (like spinach or kale), an apple, a handful of blueberries, a scoop of plant-based protein powder, almond milk, cinnamon, and ice. This is a healthy breakfast option or as a snack (to fuel your workout). Plus it tastes incredible!
