Now that we’re heading into a new season, it’s a perfect time to refresh your beauty routine for Fall.
After a summer spent outdoors, hanging out at pool parties or dancing away at music festivals, you might be thinking that your skin and hair need some help. From sun damage to sea salt, chlorine, and hot temps – our skin and hair often looks dry or damaged after summer. That’s why a little self-care is just what the beauty doctor ordered.
With just a few beauty products and know-how, the best part is – looking gorgeous doesn’t have to cost a fortune!
To inspire you to take a new look at the budget-friendly personal care and beauty products from Albertsons and Safeway (plus other participating retailers!), today’s beauty guide shares tips on how to refresh your hair and skin for Fall. Plus, learn how you could have a chance to win a year’s worth of beauty products and enjoy exclusive perks if you participate in the Take A New Look Rewards program.
Budget-Friendly Ways to Refresh Your Beauty Routine for Fall
If your skin and hair look dry or damaged, or you’re looking for non-toxic personal care products that are healthier for you, here are some of my favorite budget-friendly products that can help refresh your look for Fall.
- Dove Zero Deodorant
- Dove Shower Foam
- Suave Professionals Green Shampoo & Conditioner
- TRESemmé® Between Washes Product Line
Moisturize & Exfoliate Skin
If you’ve noticed that your skin and body need a little TLC when taking a shower, opt for nourishing, moisture-rich bath products (such as Dove Shower Foam) applied with a loofah (to help you get rid of dry, flaky skin).
This easy-to-use shower foam (which comes with a pump applicator) has become one of my favorite finds since trying it last Winter (read this post to learn more). As one of my current everyday essentials, I’ve noticed that my skin feels softer and more hydrated, even right when I step out of the shower.
Smell Fresh Throughout The Day
To help you smell fresh all day, consider switching to a healthier deodorant (like Dove Zero Deodorant), which contains 0% aluminum. This non-irritating, soothing deodorant provides 24-hour odor protection without potentially toxic ingredients that affect your well-being.
More studies are being conducted on the long-term problems associated with using aluminum-based deodorants. Over the past few years, (at the prompting of my mom – a major believer in “clean beauty”), I’ve switched to aluminum-free deodorant for everyday use. I feel better knowing I’m using safer ingredients on my body now.
Summertime is all about picnics at the beach, spending time in the sunshine, and being active outdoors. But all that fun under the sun can lead to dry, damaged hair. The good news is that there are several easy ways to treat damaged hair (short of cutting off your locks). The first place to start is in the shower.
Treat & Nourish Your Hair
By switching to hydrating, paraben-free shampoos and conditioners (like Suave Professionals Green Shampoo & Conditioner), you give your hair the essential moisture it needs to look healthy and shiny. Natural emollient-rich ingredients like almond and shea butter nourish dry, damaged tresses – leaving hair looking smoother and silkier.
When showering, use warm or cool water, as hot water can strip your hair of natural oils – resulting in dry, frizzy strands. After shampooing, apply the conditioner from the mid-shaft through the ends, and leave on for 1-3 minutes. Then rinse with cold water (to seal the cuticle), which helps hair look shinier.
Easily Extend Your Blowouts
Since regularly washing and blow-drying your hair can actually lead to more damage and dryness, hairstylists recommend washing your hair only a couple of times each week.
In between shampoos, to give your hair a little “refresh”, spray dry shampoo around the hairline. This will help to soak up excess scalp oils and add volume back to your roots.
Then apply a small amount of nourishing hair cream to tame flyaways and de-frizz hair. A great example is TRESemmé® Between Washes Product Line, which protects hair from heat styling and smooths hair follicles while imparting a healthy sheen. Plus, it leaves a fresh, clean scent which isn’t overpowering.
