When it comes to choosing everyday essentials (like skincare and makeup), I prefer to use clean beauty products that don’t contain toxic ingredients (like phthalates, sulfates, or parabens). Over the past several weeks, I’ve been incorporating several new clean beauty products into my everyday routine, which I have come to love. In today’s edition of “Fabulous Finds”, discover 12 of my current favorite clean beauty products for every day.

Health & Beauty Benefits from Clean Beauty Products

A few of the visible improvements that I’ve noticed (by switching to mostly clean beauty products for everyday wear), is that my skin no longer breaks out as often. It also looks more youthful and refreshed (even after wearing makeup all day) and has a rejuvenated healthy natural glow from morning-to-night.

In addition to these noticeable benefits, I also feel better knowing that I’m using safer ingredients on my skin (since everything we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bodies). For the long-term, scientific research continues to show that using clean beauty products can help us live a healthier, toxin-free lifestyle.

As reported by Harvard Health Publishing (for Harvard Medical School), they say that “The clean cosmetics movement definitely has us taking a closer look at what we put on our skin, which is a good thing. Scientific evidence appears to support avoiding at least a handful of ingredients that could be lurking in your personal care products, including MI/MCI, fragrance mix, and formaldehyde.”

One thing to point out, however, is that the FDA has not stipulated major regulations regarding what is considered to be “clean beauty”. As stated in the July 2019 issue of Allure, Executive Beauty Editor Jessica Chia explains that ‘”clean” (or “natural or “green”) is not a regulated term. But you can look for products stamped with clean beauty seals (EWG Verified and Ecocert are two good ones) or read labels while keeping in mind Allure’s clean beauty standard. For us to consider a product “clean,” it’s got to be free of the following ingredients: parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, silicones, polyethylene and polypropylene (microbeads), metallic aluminum, triclosan, talc, mineral oil, petrolatum, formaldehyde, toluene, and chemical sunscreens.’

The article also shared a profound statement from Cher Wexia Chen (an associate professor at George Mason University’s School of Integrative Studies) explaining that “There are more than 1,300 ingredients not legal for use [in personal-care products] in the E.U. and about 500 in Canada. In the United States, we only have 11”. This statistic proves the point that “clean beauty products” (at least in the USA) are not highly-regulated, so you have to be vigilant about reading the ingredients if you truly care about finding toxin-free products.

For the sake of this article, the “clean beauty products” featured here are considered “clean” by USA standards.

Bel Essence Anti-Aging Eye Lifting and Firming Oil Serum: A couple of months ago I noticed a dry, itchy patch of skin underneath my eye. It got more irritated whenever I applied skincare or makeup, so I booked a visit to my Dermatologist. He said it was a mild case of Eczema (which I had never experienced), so he gave me a (chemical-based) cream to eradicate it. Since I don’t want to use chemical-based products regularly, I opted to try this eye oil instead. Every morning and evening I use a drop of this eye oil around my eyes. Within a few days, the red irritated skin disappeared (and no longer felt itchy or sensitive). Since then, I’ve only used this eye oil, which has also helped to minimize the appearance of fine lines and dry skin.

Osmosis Replenish Antioxidant Repair Serum: Before using moisturizer and sunscreen in the morning, I apply a drop of this antioxidant-rich serum all over my face and neck. Containing powerful natural ingredients (like Green Tea, Honeysuckle Flower Extract, and Gingko Biloba Leaf), this serum boosts the skin’s natural ability to produce collagen, while leaving it looking bright and radiant. It also helps to combat the harmful effects of the sun.

Peluzzi Organica Beautifying Botanical Complex Face Oil Moisturizer: Since this oil contains a natural fragrance, I prefer to use it to hydrate my hands, neck, and chest. Each morning and evening, I apply a drop of this beautiful oil on my skin, which helps to keep my skin deeply moisturized and looking glowy.

Cirem Mending Moon Moonglow Face Oil: A few nights a week, I apply a drop of this face oil all over my freshly-washed face and neck. I’ve noticed that it helps my skin stay hydrated, and makes my face look refreshed and dewy when I wake up. I especially love how lightweight it feels, and it never leaves an oily or greasy-feeling residue.

Block Island Organics Revitalizing Night Cream: This night cream has become one of my absolute favorites since it’s both lightweight and truly hydrating. Not only does it contain beneficial antioxidants (like lavender, rosehip, and sweet almond oil) and nourishing vitamins (which makes skin look more youthful and healthy), but it’s also free of artificial fragrances, dyes, or toxic ingredients. Plus it’s a vegan formula too.

Priya Apotheca Bliss Serum: This soothing and moisturizing CBD-based serum is another fabulous find, as it helps to keep skin hydrated and dewy-looking. I use this a few times a week, especially on days that my skin feels dry or a little flaky. It instantly gives my face a radiant, glowing look upon application.

Poethique Lip Balm with Kokum Butter: When I want a hint of natural-looking color on my lips, I apply this moisturizing lip balm. Containing hydrating clean ingredients, it nourishes my lips while imparting a soft wash of color that enhances my lips. It’s especially great for those no-makeup days or wearing to the gym (when I still want to feel pretty).

California Clean Organic Lip Conditioner: Before I go to bed each night, I like to apply this moisturizing lip conditioner to my lips. I’ve noticed that by regularly using this hydrating lip balm, my lips are less prone to get dry or chapped. Plus, it’s a wonderful base to use before lipstick or lipliner.

Face Atelier Ultra Skin: For that “woke up like this” (but better) look, this lightweight and buildable foundation is a fabulous find. Applying a small amount all over the skin (with a foundation brush or damp makeup sponge) is all you need for a light to medium coverage. I’m a fan of foundations (like this) that mimic the look of healthy, flawless skin – rather than a heavy, noticeable mask that looks cakey or unnatural. This one also is long-wearing, and also heat, oil, and moisture-resistant.

bareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear Powder Foundation: For hot, humid days or those long days when I’m running from my office to an event that evening, this long-wearing powder foundation is a big help. It provides light-to-medium coverage while minimizing the appearance of shine and pores. Plus, it’s non-comedogenic and won’t make skin breakout, which is helpful for acne-prone skin. It’s especially great for oily or combination skin since it provides a matte finish.

Yulip Lipstick (Sunset Pink): For a soft, semi-matte finish, this moisturizing lipstick imparts a subtle pink hue to lips, while deeply hydrating lips. It’s a gorgeous lipstick for everyday wear, as it complements all types of makeup looks – from bronzed smokey eyes to classic winged eyeliner looks. It’s also an ideal lipstick for daytime or office use since it isn’t too bold or over-the-top. The brand prides itself on infusing “clean beauty products and Korean skincare trends” to develop lipsticks that are “100% non-toxic, natural, organic, and cruelty-free.”

Collective Laboratories Revive Activating Serum (for Hair): Last, but not least, to strengthen my hair follicles (which can help prevent unwanted breakage and fallout), this hair serum helps to rejuvenate hair by working at the root. A few nights each week, I rub a dropper-full of the hair serum into my roots, focusing around my hairline (which is where my hair is especially delicate and prone to breakage). Containing amino acids, minerals, and botanical ingredients, this product was created to help promote hair growth.
