What To Wear To Go Wine Tasting
Dresses
When the weather starts to heat up, everyone’s natural inclination is to opt for lightweight, more revealing clothing. When you go wine tasting, it’s important to dress appropriately. That means, if you wear short daytime dresses (like sheath dresses or fit-and-flare dresses), it’s wise to choose dresses that are (at most) a couple inches above the knee, and are not too tight fitting. Another alternative to a short dress, is a comfortable and casual maxi dress. The flowing, loose dresses will keep you cool even when the sun outside is scorching.
Rompers
If you’re more of a shorts gal, keep the cut-offs in your closet, and opt for a playful romper instead. Available in a wide range of vibrant colors and pretty patterns, rompers are the dressier alternative to a basic pair of shorts. The key to choosing a romper for a wine tasting excursion is to pick one that is not too short or skimpy.
Cardigans
Because many wineries take you on a tour of their property, you might venture into the wine caves or air-conditioned tasting rooms. That means, you’ll suddenly go from hot weather to cold temperatures. Therefore, it’s advisable to bring along a cardigan. Cardigans are easy to pack, and can be draped over your shoulders and tied in front, or can be buttoned up, if you prefer.
Espadrilles
If you love adding a little extra height to your stature, leave the pointed toe stilettos at home, and opt for the walkable and wearable espadrille (or wedge) instead. When you go wine tasting, you want to not only ensure you can walk around the wineries and vineyards without being uncomfortable (or wobbly, from a few too many tastings), but you’ll also want to make sure your shoes don’t sink into the grass or dirt. That’s why espadrilles and wedges (with their flat soles) will give you the height you want, without being problematic.
Ballet Flats
If comfort is your main priority when you go wine tasting, the classic and cute ballet flat is your best option. Right now, the uber-chic and sophisticated pointed toe flat is a big spring fashion trend. Whether you opt for a vibrant hue or a playful print, you can’t go wrong with ballet flats.

Hello!
I think I would definitely wear a knee-length dress, cardigan, and ballet flats on a winery visit. The chill from the storage areas, the walking, and the atmosphere need something more dressy, you know? Fun picks. Love the RED by Valentino pieces!

I’m right there with you on that! I’m going wine tasting in Napa Valley this weekend, and plan on wearing a skirt, cardigan, and ballet flats. 🙂
