While we don’t all look like supermodels, the truth is, even supermodels aren’t flawless. These gorgeous gals always get help from beauty experts when they’re walking a runway in a bikini or posing for photos in a short skirt.

Even though we’re not prepping for a Victoria’s Secret fashion show, if we want to rock a pair of shorts with confidence, it’s worth our effort to step up our beauty game now. To help us look fit and toned this season, today’s skincare guide shares secrets from the beauty pros.

Beauty Secrets on How to Make Your Legs Look Flawless

Since Spring starts this month, it’s the perfect time to prep our skin and bodies for the beach.

I can imagine you reading this (while cozied up in leggings and a sweater) thinking – “shorts, really?!” Well, don’t worry! We’re not asking you to do Barre exercises or anything (although we’d always recommend that). Aside from exercising and eating a well-balanced diet (which is still important), you might be surprised to learn that you can look more fit and toned by using beauty products.

How To Look Fit & Toned with Beauty Products

1. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week

Poppy Stockwell, a top skincare expert in New York recommends exfoliating 2-3 times per week. Stimulating circulation (especially around the thighs and butt area) through regular exfoliation can help skin texture appear smoother and evener, giving you a more fit and toned appearance. She says, “I love the Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant; this will help to slough off dry skin and surface impurities that can lead to breakouts while increasing cellular turnover in prevention.” A few other great exfoliators are the 100% Pure Bath Sponge, DermaDoctor KP Duty Body Scrub, and Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish

2. Use a body oil

To get rid of dry, flaky skin, Frank Fanning, a skincare expert with a 30-year history in the beauty industry suggests we use a body oil to hydrate and moisturize skin. Since he’s also the Founder & CEO of TriLipid Research Institute, he recommends “Trilipiderm’s Ultra-Hydrating All-Body Oil. The 100% natural, and super-rich in olive-derived squalane, serum is extremely light and replenishing.” Since soft, dewy skin reflects light better, a body oil can help you look fit and toned (while making your skin silky and smooth). Other body oils we love are Josie Maran Argan OilTata Harper Revitalizing Body Oil, and Rahua Amazon Oil.

3. Get a faux-glow

Since bronzed skin creates the illusion of looking fit and toned, getting a faux-glow is a quick trick that always works. Don’t worry – gone are the days of orange-colored fake tans. With all the great sunless tanners out there, a faux-glow can look natural and sexy nowadays. To help you gradually build-up your color, we recommend a daily lotion with a built-in sunless tanner (like Jergen’s Natural Glow, St. Tropez Gradual Tan, or Vita Liberata Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Lotion).

4. Apply Body Makeup

For those moments when you want to look virtually flawless, body makeup works wonders. I first learned about this beauty expert secret from a gal whose friend is a celebrity makeup artist. She said that whenever they prepped clients for the red carpet, they always applied body makeup (like Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs or Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body) to legs and exposed skin.

5. Use Anti-Cellulite Treatments

While some folks think anti-cellulite treatments are rubbish, I’m of the belief that “it doesn’t hurt to try”. If I can see even the slightest improvement in my unwanted dimples, then I’m a happy camper. To minimize the appearance of cellulite, anti-cellulite treatments (such as bliss FatGirlSlim Skin Firming Cream or PurAttitute CelluFIRM Lotion) can help temporarily plump up the skin, making it look firmer and more toned.
