Inspired by the beautiful landscape and natural environment of the Central Coast in Northern California, Carmel Valley native and creator of The Bar Cart Cocktail Co., Katie Blandin Shea launched her uniquely refreshing company just a few years ago.

With a degree in Agriculture and a background working in production for Swanton Pacific Ranch and an international ginger company, Katie learned the ins-and-outs of producing quality food products. Her experience in the ag industry ultimately inspired her to create her own company.

In addition to providing cocktail catering at special events and teaching workshops on how to whip up tasty, flavorful cocktails, she also creates hand-made batches of bitters and tonic syrups, sourced from local wild-foraged ingredients found in Big Sur and the Monterey Peninsula. Her company’s mission is “to create innovative drinks and mixers, determined by the season and with emphasis on the the natural environment for flavors.”

In collaboration with the Carmel Road Winery tasting room (near Ocean Avenue in Carmel-By-The-Sea, California), Katie recently hosted a Wine Spritz Demo, showing guests how to easily whip up 3 wine spritz cocktail recipes using the Carmel Road Riesling. Since the Olympics are currently going on, these festive red-white-and-blue themed wine spritz cocktails are the perfect drinks to toast with while cheering on Team USA.

Red Wine Spritz Cocktail Recipe:

Combine the following ingredients in a wine glass: 3 oz. chilled Carmel Road Riesling, 1 oz. Campari de Apertif, Bar Cart Cocktail Co. Big Sur Citrus Bitters, 2 oz. Club Soda. Garnish with Orange Peel and serve.
