Kerastase Hair Care & Styling Product Line Review
From shampoos and conditioners designed to help colored-hair retain its color and brilliance to leave-in treatments that provide lustrous shine on frizzy or dull hair, the Kerastase hair care line offers an extensive collection of products that help boost hair’s health, making it look as gorgeous as ever.
I was introduced to the Kerastase product line from my hair stylist, Brian Bode, owner of Oya Salon (in Monterey, California). Brian Bode is a renowned hair expert whose work has been seen in magazines (like Bazaar and Marie Claire), has worked with top fashion designers (such as Alice + Olivia) for New York Fashion Week shows, trained hundreds of hair stylists around the world, served as the Lead Artistic Director for KMS’ North American and Global Division in 2012, and most recently became the Art Director for the StyleCarmel fashion section of Carmel Magazine. Brian is definitely well-educated and up-to-date about everything pertaining to hair. When he told me how exceptional the Kerastase products were, I had to take his word for it.
Designed for color-treated or highlighted hair, this shampoo not only cleans hair without stripping it of natural oils (essential for maintaining health), it also helps the hair retain it’s color. I like using this shampoo especially when I feel the need to get my hair extra clean (after working out or using an ample amount of styling products). This shampoo also seems to give my hair extra volume and lift without requiring me to add styling products.
When you need to give your hair some extra TLC, a deep conditioning treatment is in order. This smoothing mask is perfect for dry, damaged, or frizzy hair. Just leave it on your hair for about 20-minutes, then wash thoroughly. When used weekly, your hair becomes softer, smoother, and easier to style. This is definitely a must-use for anyone who cares about having great hair.
The original smoothing serum of the Kerastase line, this beautifying oil can be used on either wet or dry hair. It does have a thicker consistency than some other smoothing oils on the market (like my other favorite, Moroccanoil), so a little goes a long way. Start by working a dime-sized amount throughout your hair, starting mid-way down through the ends. You’ll notice that your hair instantly feels softer, frizz is eliminated, and a glistening sheen is added back into your hair. You can also add this to your hair when it’s humid or rainy outside, on days when you need a little more protection from the dreaded potential frizz.
Intended specifically for damaged hair, this replenishing oil helps condition and treat hair that has been damaged by salon treatments, heat styling, drying products, and overall abuse. It contains a mixture of healing oils, like argan, camellia, maize, and pracaxi oils. In addition, it has a soft, beautiful scent which gives your hair an alluring smell. Use this healing oil daily until your hair comes back to it’s healthy state again. Then switch into using the original Kerastase Elixir Ultime (listed above).
If you have fine or limp hair, this is the smoothing treatment for you. Even fine hair can easily become damaged, through years of styling. But the key to helping repair fine hair is to use light-weight, but effective, products that don’t weigh it down. This treatment helps nourish and protect fine hair, helping it gain back it’s natural bounce and health.
For color-treated or highlighted hair, this treatment brings radiance and vibrancy back to your hair. Many products on the market can dull or dry out sensitive colored-hair, resulting in fading or damage. But this product helps color-treated hair retain its color, and boost shine and softness.
