When it comes to sophisticated, stylish, and contemporary pieces – Australian fashion brands have quickly been gaining recognition and notoriety around the globe.

To highlight the best of the best from down under, Fashion Palette recently featured several notable and newcomer Australian fashion designers in its celebrity-attended NYFW runway show at Pier59 Studios in New York City.

Fashion Palette at New York Fashion Week

From chic swimwear and resort pieces to elegant evening gowns, the mesmerizing show debuted Spring 2020 collections from six Australian brands, including Torannce, Sonya Swim, House of Campbell, Portia & Scarlett, Made with Love Bridal, and Dea The Label. As a lover of all things glamorous, featured in today’s edition of the NYFW Style Series are three of my favorite collections that were highlighted in the show.

Aside from the gorgeous outfits that were shown on the runway, spotted front row at the show were several entertainers, influencers, and fashion industry insiders, such as Miss J Alexander (TV personality and runway coach for “America’s Next Top Model”), Farrah Abraham (former reality star of MTV’s “Teen Mom”), musical artist Vina Mills and other public figures.

To say the Fashion Palette NYFW show captured the attention of VIP guests was an understatement.

Brand: House of Campbell

From sultry, burgundy-colored suits and separates to romantic floral printed dresses and blouses, the House of Campbell collection exuded schoolgirl charm mixed with a sophisticated, grown-up vibe. The collection included a stunning array of feminine wrap dresses with spaghetti straps, satin-trimmed velvet blazers, and a-line skirts in floral patterns.

Brand: Portia & Scarlett

From glimmering beaded gowns to princess-worthy jewel-encrusted tiaras, the Portia & Scarlett Spring 2020 collection is fitting for modern-day royalty. Ideal for wearing at gala events, weddings, proms, and even beauty pageants, the entire collection featured one show-stopping piece after the next.

Getting their start just seven years ago, the dazzling duo behind the brand (who we met after the show) have gone from designing gowns for beauty pageant winners to expanding their glamorous line to over 1000 designs, which are now sold by more than 100 retailers around the world. Amassing a following of 700,000 fans on Instagram, these bubbly blonde Australian fashion designers continue to garner the attention of fashionistas everywhere.

 

Brand: Sonya Swim

Since Australian brands are often heralded for designing outstanding swimwear, it comes as no surprise that Sonya Swim would showcase its stunning array of chic, contemporary swimsuits and resort wear in its first-ever NYFW runway show.

Created in 2019 by Fashion Palette founder and Creative Director, Sonya Mefaddi, this brand new line of luxurious resort pieces is comprised of elegant fabrics, such as silk linen, and embroidered cotton.

From flirty ruffled accents to sleek silhouettes with racy cut-outs, the brand’s debut collection (which was inspired by the French Riviera) offers something for every type of wanderlust-loving jet-setter. The Sonya Swim line features a variety of sophisticated and glamorous pieces that will elevate any vacation.

Brand: Torannce

As shared by the brand, “TORANNCE is an Australian design label (by Julia Torannce Hemingway) dedicated to timelessness with deep throws to eccentricity, opulence and modern sleek. With an emphasis on quality, TORANNCE garments are designed using premium materials, including expensive silks, ethically sourced leathers, sustainable linen, and beautiful hand-embellished materials.”

From playful vibrant-colored polka dot and gingham-printed dresses to shimmery sequined ensembles, the collection featured a cheerful, eye-catching assortment of girly-glam looks. Whether you’re going to a bridal shower or heading out for an evening on the town, these sweet and stylish pieces are guaranteed to garner compliments.
