When life gets busy, it’s often when we feel the need to relax. While I love being productive, I also know the importance of work-life balance. That’s why taking time off to “be” is often what we need to stay inspired.

Since the Inspirations & Celebrations’ mantra this month is “to renew and refresh”, here are 5 inspiring places to relax on the Monterey Peninsula. From luxurious destination spas that make us feel pampered to serene landmarks that beckon us to “go within”, here are some gorgeous places to unwind.

The Beach & Tennis Club

When I’m craving some real downtime, this is where you can often find me. Arguably the ultimate members-only club on the Monterey Peninsula, the exclusive Beach & Tennis Club is also one of the most inspiring places on the Central Coast. Boasting sweeping ocean and world famous golf course vistas, this is a truly magical place to relax.

From a soothing sauna and steam room to a refreshing lap pool and hot tub (with the view above), there’s no shortage of luxurious ways to lounge around here. Plus, the occasional celebrity sighting is known to happen here, since it’s a hideaway for notable figures, business tycoons, and top athletes.

The Spa at Pebble Beach

Another one of my favorite places to relax on the Monterey Peninsula is The Spa at Pebble Beach. Just a brief walk up from The Beach & Tennis Club, this property was converted from a private Mediterranean estate into the posh luxury spa that it is today.

From tranquil meditation spaces like The Conservatory and Inhalation Room (complete with a rejuvenating Himalayan rock salt wall) to a vast assortment of spa treatments (including facials, massages, scrubs, and more), relaxing here takes on a whole new meaning.

La Playa Carmel

Renowned for being an iconic landmark in Carmel-by-the-Sea, this renovated historic hotel has one of the most stunning landscaped gardens in the area. From a playful life-sized chess game to a 10 cent Happy Hour on Sunday afternoons, having fun around here is to be expected. Founded in the early 1900s, this gem of a property is both fun and relaxing.

Overlooking lush gardens blooming with colorful flowers and ocean views just beyond, one of the best places to relax is at the La Playa terrace bar. Aside from happy hour, one of my favorite things to enjoy is their buffet breakfast. Talk about coffee with a view!

Folktale Vineyards

With views of the Carmel Valley hillside just beyond, this beautiful winery and vineyard is definitely one of the most inspiring places to relax on the Monterey Peninsula. From wellness retreats and classes (like Yoga in the Vines) to live entertainment, musical acts, and lawn games, there are so many wonderful ways to relax here (beyond wine).

The team that took over this vineyard brought it to life in a warm and inviting way. Playing on the whimsy of the chateau design, they’ve infused it with imagination and creativity like never before. We’ve done everything from artisan workshops (like crafting Crepe Paper Flowers and doing a DIY Mini Wall Garden class) to cheese and wine tastings here. If you happen to swing by, definitely try the Sparkling Rosé (it’s a fan favorite!).

Carmel Mission

While this historic landmark is an active Catholic church, as well as a private elementary school, the main property of Carmel Mission is open to the public during various hours. People from all over the world come to visit this renowned destination, to take photos, walk the grounds, and embrace their spiritual side.

Whether you’re peacefully observing the gardens and fountain or spending a moment in reflective silence, this is truly one of the most inspiring places to relax on the Monterey Peninsula.
