Wen Hair Care Review

The Wen Hair Care line has become massively popular over the past several years, thanks to the constant stream of infomercials, countless testimonials by real women, and growing number of celebrity endorsements. After seeing the Wen Hair Care products on the market for quite some time, I decided to give it a shot and see what all the hype was about. Featured here are my beauty product reviews of three Wen Hair Care products, including the sulfate-free 2-in-1 Cleansing Conditioner, Re-Moist Hydrating Hair Mask, and Styling Creme.

Wen Hair Care Review

Wen Cleansing Conditioner

Touted for making your hair silky smooth, frizz-free, and in better condition than you’ve ever experienced with traditional shampoo, the Wen Cleansing Conditioner set the lather-free shampooing trend in motion. Hair care experts have long been saying that sulfates (the cleansing agent in most shampoos that create the ‘bubbling, sudsy’ effect you notice) actually strip your hair of natural oils, resulting in dryer, frizz-prone hair cuticles. Created from a unique mix of herbs and botanical agents, the Wen Cleansing Conditioner claims to clean your hair, while infusing it with necessary healing ingredients that help add back bounce, body, and shine.

The company calls the Wen Cleansing Conditioner “a five-in-one conditioning cleanser designed to improve hair health, reduce frizz, and retain color. Turn your hair care routine into a pampering, invigorating experience with this luxurious, multitasking cleanser and conditioner designed to impart shine, luster, and softness to stressed-out tresses. The lightweight, low-lather formula is a universal product that caters to all your haircare needs, regardless of hair type. Herbal extracts like aloe leaf juice, fig, and sweet almond oil help your locks retain moisture, while protecting them from future damage. Hair is left stronger and more manageable. It is formulated Without: Sulfates and Phthalates, and is designed to streamline your daily cleansing routine. This formula replaces shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler, and leave-in conditioner. This product is ideal for brittle, broken hair that has been weakened from coloring, relaxing, or heat styling.”

To effectively clean and condition your hair you’ll need to work the product throughout your hair (starting with your roots and ending with your tips). The more product you use, the better the results you will see. If you’re concerned that this lather-free shampoo-conditioner combo isn’t eliminating the oils, built-up products, or dirt in your hair, use more product. I know it might seem counter-intuitive, but it’s actually what you need to do. Thoroughly rinse your hair with warm water after massaging the cleansing conditioner in your hair. You also might need to repeat this process a second time, depending on how ‘dirty’ your hair is.

In addition to instantly seeing smoother hair (even after the first treatment), you’ll notice your hair texture continue to improve as you use the product over the course of time. In addition, you’ll have more shine, bounce, and volume.

The key to using the Wen Cleansing Conditioner starts with finding the right solution for your hair type. The company carries several options intended for differing hair types, ranging from fine or limp to dry and coarse. Since my hair is naturally wavy and thick, I use the Wen Cleansing Conditioner in Fig.

Wen Re-Moist Hydrating Hair Mask

Once a week, you should use a deep conditioning hair mask to help revitalize and strengthen your hair.

The company raves that the Wen Re-Moist Hydrating Hair Mask is “an intensely nourishing weekly mask designed to give your hair more body and a beautiful, healthy shine. Pamper your locks with the ultimate spa treatment of this concentrated, moisturizing mask infused with botanical extracts to condition the hair and impart shine and softness. Envelop each strand with an invisible veil of nutrients, including hydrating shea butter and restorative hydrolyzed wheat protein. Beneficial for all hair types, this formula promises to leave hair looking and feeling soft, manageable, and extremely touchable. It is formulated without: Sulfates, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, and Triclosan,”

Having tried numerous deep conditioning hair masks on the market, I have to say that the Wen Re-Moist Hydrating Hair Mask has become one of my all-time personal favorites, since it really helps increase my hair’s softness and shine. I notice that my hair is always more manageable, easy to style, and able to withstand heat and styling tools when I use this weekly treatment.

If you only get one Wen Hair Care product, this is the must-have one to add to your list.

Wen Styling Creme

Prior to blowdrying or styling your hair with heat (like hot rollers, flat irons, or curling irons), you should always protect your delicate hair. Hair is in the most fragile state when it is wet or damp. That’s why a thermal (heat-protectant) spray, hair oil (like Moroccanoil), or styling creme (like the Wen Styling Creme) are vitally important to protecting your hair from further damage.

The Wen Styling Creme actually has the consistency of a gel (without the sticky feel). It’s best applied from mid-shaft through the tips of your hair, since it could be a little too heavy for your roots. When I use this product, I find that my hair style lasts longer, holds up better in humid or foggy weather, and looks shiny and smooth. Unlike other styling cremes on the market this one doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it look stringy. But when it comes to this product, the ‘less is more’ technique works best. Go sparingly!
