In the past few years I’ve become a big fan of the vintage shabby chic (aka “granny-chic”) home décor trend. Incorporating the look of charming antiques with feminine contemporary accents, this trend is a great way to decorate.
Candlelight always sets the mood for love… with that in mind I placed an iron hurricane sconce with heart and scroll detailing (from Pier 1 Imports) adjacent to a framed poster featuring a couple embracing (“Romantic Embrace” by Brent Heighton, which I bought online at AllPosters.com) in the bedroom. On a table below the wall art, I put a bouquet of dried flowers (bought at a local craft store) in an old tin can. For my bedding, I chose a romantic floral pattern (by Martha Stewart), flanked by two torchiere floor lamps (from Home Depot) that remind me of the 1920’s, and above the bed is a dramatic framed poster of a glamorous woman attending a lavish party (again bought online at AllPosters.com).
In the bathroom, I went for the traditional seashell theme, both in my wallpaper selection, as well as the wall art. I recently found this adorable (and very affordable!) framed artwork and handmade “At The Beach” sign at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. Because I love staying organized, I put my perfumes and makeup items on a clean, white porcelain tray (which I bought at Bed, Bath, & Beyond). The makeup brushes are kept in a vintage white floral porcelain milk saucer.
