One of our favorite things to do on the weekend is to spend a leisurely day at the beach with our fun-loving puppy. Whether we’re playing catch with him or just lounging on a beach blanket while drinking wine, a beach day always makes Summer moments even sweeter (even if the weather isn’t bright and cheery).
To inspire you to plan a fun beach picnic, in collaboration with Cupcake Vineyards, today’s entertaining guide shares easy, effortless ideas on how to make your beach picnics more joyful. From food & wine pairing tips to must-have items, read on to discover some of the ways we love to elevate beach picnics.
Bring easy-to-pack food & beverages in convenient containers.
For a relaxing beach picnic, we always love to bring wine along with us. That’s why we were especially excited to discover the delicious Cupcake Vineyards wines in a can in two delightful varietals – Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc.
The crisp Rosé features refreshing notes of watermelon, white nectarines and strawberries, with a refreshing finish. Whereas, the Sauvignon Blanc exhibits vibrant citrus notes (like lemon and key lime) and sweet stone fruits (such as nectarine), with a balanced finish.
These cans are honestly the easiest way to bring wine down to the beach (especially since we don’t have to remember to pack a bottle opener or deal with breakable glass).
Not only are these wines refreshing and drinkable, but they are also versatile enough to pair with all types of foods – from a curry vegetable salad (as pictured below) to grilled chicken and fish, BBQ ribs, and fresh fruit. The best part is – we can easily recycle the cans after they’re empty. Plus, each can is equivalent to 2.5 glasses of wine – so a little goes a long way (which makes it a great budget-friendly find for beach picnics).
When packing your food, I suggest putting each dish in reusable containers with lids, since they’ll keep food fresh and make it easier to tote down to the beach. Not to mention – a picnic basket is one of the most practical (and cute!) ways to pack your beach picnic and bring along any plates and utensils. If you haven’t bought one yet, I highly recommend adding it to your outdoor entertaining wishlist.
Pack a beach blanket & outdoor pillows
To make your beach picnics even more comfortable, bring a large beach blanket (that’s spacious enough for you and your guests to lounge on) and outdoor pillows (which will encourage everyone to relax). Make sure to shop for washable fabrics (like cotton), as you’ll want easy-to-clean items that you can get multiple uses out of.
Pack beach toys & games
Since some of your guests (especially kids and furry friends) might get bored after a few hours lounging around, pack a few beach toys and games to play with. Whether you’re tossing a frisbee or kicking around a beach ball, you’ll be able to entertain yourself and your guests with ease.
If all else fails… go on a beach hunt for natural treasures (like pretty seashells) and make a game out of it. As a matter of fact, when I was a young kid, this was the exact beach where my friends and I would take turns pretending to be Ariel from “The Little Mermaid”, and we’d have fun jumping off the rock into the water.
For that matter – even a twig that’s washed up onto shore can be something to play fetch with!
Life’s sweetest moments often happen when we’re spending quality time with the ones we love. That’s why a fun-filled beach picnic with family and friends is always a great idea, no matter how you celebrate.
