To create the perfect canvas for your old Hollywood makeup look, start by prepping your skin with a moisturizer and pore-minimizing primer.

Then apply a light-to-medium coverage foundation that has a soft-matte finish (like the Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation) all over your face, blending thoroughly. To highlight your cheekbones and chisel your features, contour and highlight using bronzer, blush, and illuminator (try the Maybelline Master Contour Palette).

For added definition, fill-in sparse areas of your brows with a pencil, and seal with a clear mascara.

Step 1: Using the Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette (which contains 12 universally-flattering neutral hues ranging from rosy tones to bronzes), apply the nude-colored shadow in Quad 1 (second color from the left, on the top row) all over your eyelids. To increase the intensity of the pigmentation on your lids, pat (don’t brush) the color onto your eyelids using the sponge-tipped applicator.

Then apply the dark brown hue (second color from the left, on the bottom row) in a triangular shape on the outer corners of your upper eyelids (as shown below). Work the color into your crease, but keep the focus on the outer part of your eye (to open your eyes, making them look bigger).

As a final touch, using your ring finger, gently apply the champagne color (first color from the left, on the top row) to your brow bones and on the inner corners of your eyes, to act as a highlighter. This will help draw light to your eyes, giving them an illuminated, radiant look.

For added drama, use the longer sponge applicator to blend the dark brown hue directly on your lower lash-line (going from the outer corners inward, half-way). Make sure to blend the shadows, so no lines of demarcation show.

Step 2: To define your eyes, using the Master Precise Skinny Gel Pencil, line the lash-line of your upper lids, starting with the outer corners, going inward (only half-way). The outer part of the line should be thicker, gradually getting thinner as your draw inward.

To make your lashes look naturally thicker, you can use the gel pencil liner to draw small dots directly in between your lashes. This technique creates the illusion of darker, fuller eye lashes.

Step 3: For captivating eyes, create full, voluminous lashes with the help of Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara. Simply swipe on two coats of mascara onto your upper lashes only, focusing on the outer corners. You’ll instantly have thicker, more dramatic lashes.

You can use a lash comb to separate your lashes in between coats, to help define the lashes.

Step 4: As the finishing touch to your old Hollywood makeup look, a vibrant-hued creamy lipstick (in a daring red color) is an absolute must. Prep your lips by gently exfoliating with a soft toothbrush or damp washcloth. This will help prepare your lips, making them softer and more supple.

Apply the Maybelline Color Sensational LipColor (in shade Red Revolution) directly to your lips, making sure you define the cupid’s bow. To ensure your lip color lasts for hours, lightly blot your lips with a tissue, then re-apply the lipstick. This will help increase the longevity of your lipstick throughout the night.
