Ballerina-Inspired Bun Tutorial
When there’s humidity in the air, it often causes frizziness or limp hair. Instead of dealing with a bad hair day, just pull your hair up! Whether you’re going to a party or heading out on a date, pulling your hair away from your face not only accentuates your features, it also looks chic and stylish. By adorning your hair with glamorous hair accessories adds a finishing touch that’s definitely eye-catching.
Step 1: Start with clean, dry hair. To add luster and shine (and prevent flyaways or frizz), add a dime-sized amount of hair serum or hair oil (like Moroccanoil or Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil) from roots to tips. Detangle hair with a paddle brush to smooth the cuticle.
Step 2: Gather hair into a ponytail and brush through the crown to ensure there are no bumps.
Step 3: Wrap the ponytail around itself until it forms a bun shape. It doesn’t have to be perfect, so don’t worry. Screw in three bun twists (like the Kitsch Bun Twists shown above) into the base of the bun to secure it.
Once you try bun twists, you’ll never go back to using a rubber band and bobby pins. These ingenious little hair accessories are virtually undetectable when worn, and also keep your bun secure and intact throughout the day, making them ideal for creating quick and pretty buns.
Step 4: For added glitz and glamour, place two ornamental hair accessories (like these star-shaped bobby pins) in the side of your hair (above the ear). Not only does this keep stray hairs in place, it also draws attention to your hair when the accessories catch the light.
