One of the best weekends of the Summer to get-away for some R&R is 4th of July weekend. To help you find vacation spots that are ideal for Independence Day celebrations, featured in today’s travel guide are last minute 4th of July trip ideas that range from world-renowned golf destinations in California to luxurious mountain resorts in Colorado.

Last Minute 4th of July Trips

Whether you prefer heart-pumping outdoor activities like hiking and bike-riding or you want a leisurely 4th of July trip that includes fine dining and lounging by the pool, featured here are four spectacular, award-winning resorts that are perfect for visiting during 4th of July weekend.

Last Minute 4th of July Trips - Pebble Beach Resorts

CALIFORNIA – Pebble Beach Resorts: One of the world’s most famous destinations for championship golf, Pebble Beach is a place like no other. Perhaps that’s why Pebble Beach Golf Links has hosted five U.S. Open Championships. And in 2019, the Championship returns for a sixth time! Aside from golf, Pebble Beach Resorts also features an award-winning spa (which feels like a Tuscan getaway, set in the middle of the forest), gourmet cuisine at the resorts’ multiple restaurants, and even shopping.

Set adjacent to the breathtaking Monterey Bay, while visiting Pebble Beach, make sure to take a drive along famed 17 mile drive (with panoramic views and must-see spots, like the world-famous Lone Cypress), then head down to one of the many beaches for a picnic by the bay. After a busy day exploring the forest, relax in the comfort of your luxurious room at one of the three spectacular hotels within the resort (Spanish Bay, The Lodge, or Casa Palmero).

Last Minute 4th of July Trips - Sunriver Resort

OREGON – Sunriver Resort: Located 20 minutes south of Bend, Oregon, this year-round destination offers cycling, fly-fishing, hiking, river floating, skiing (Mount Bachelor is just up the road), etc. They also have incredible culinary options, and Bend is a brewery leader worldwide.

Having visited Sunriver Resort multiple times throughout my life, I can easily say – it’s one of my favorite places to visit, especially during Summer. One of the best activities (that your kids will love!) is to jump on a cruiser bike and go cycling around the entire property. The resort has bike trails (that even go underground to cross busy streets, making it safer for kids) that span the gorgeous, expansive property. After biking, hop over to the swimming pool to cool off, then head down to the river for a fun kayaking or fishing excursion.

Last Minute 4th of July Trips - Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

COLORADO – Park Hyatt Beaver Creek and Spa: With vistas of the picturesque Beaver Creek Mountain, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is a premiere destination in the Rocky Mountains. From breathtaking mountain views to championship golf courses to exquisite cuisine, the Beaver Creek resort offers the perfect year-round escape. If you’re into outdoor activities, you’ll be excited to learn that you can go white-water rafting, hiking, and fly fishing here.

Plus, this summer, guests of the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa will enjoy the Rocky Mountains like a local while staying in style thanks to the new Backpack Concierge program forged with heritage Swedish outfitter Fjällräven. The property will have a selection of Fjällräven’s premium, sustainable backpacks available so you can explore the area’s stunning surroundings equipped with high-design, technical outdoor gear.

Last Minute 4th of July Trips - Resort at Squaw Creek

CALIFORNIA – Resort at Squaw Creek: Tucked away in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Squaw Valley, California, this magnificent mountain resort features a wide range of fun, family-friendly activities (including lawn games, a 120′ waterslide into the pool, movie nights, hiking, and other enjoyable experiences). Just minutes from the lake, this award-winning luxury resort and spa features fine dining, a zen-like spa (with relaxing treatments), and modern amenities.

Plus, the resort has created a unique children’s camp called Mountain Buddies, which provides supervised activities that will keep the kids busy (and happy) all day long. The program includes a range of fun things to do (for children age 4-12), including: nature walks, group games, arts & crafts, climbing on an 8′ rock climbing wall, soccer, tennis, and more. Since the 4th of July is one of the most popular times to visit Lake Tahoe, you’ll need to book your 4th of July trip now, since hotels sell-out fast!
