In celebration of Autumn, one of our friends recently invited us to go apple picking at a nearby Apple Orchard. Because we love anything that’s charming and inspiring, her invitation got us pondering about all the fun things we want to do this season. To get us all in the spirit of the season, here are 7 fun ways to enjoy the best things about Fall.
Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Instead of conveniently shopping for Halloween pumpkins at a nearby market, go the authentic route this year by visiting a local pumpkin patch. For anyone with kids – this is an especially fun outing for them, as they get to choose their pumpkins at the farm where they’re grown while supporting local farmers.
Whip up Pumpkin Spice Latte
After bringing home the Halloween pumpkins, reward yourself with a delicious DIY Pumpkin Spice Latte. To inspire your kitchen creativity, the husband-and-wife bloggers behind Inspired Taste came up with a popular Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe that’s definitely worth trying. Plus, you can even use one of the pumpkins you just brought home in this DIY recipe, as it calls for pumpkin puree, coffee, milk, and fall spices.
Go Apple Picking
Put on a cozy scarf, grab a basket, and drive out to an apple orchard to go apple picking. What makes the season feel especially comforting is doing activities that bring us back to our roots. Bundling up to go outdoors, spending time in rural places (like farms and ranches), and doing fun activities brings the season to life in a rich and rewarding way. That’s why apple picking is a traditional Fall activity that is novel and different than everyday life.
Bake a Pie
Now that you’ve come home with a basket full of apples, why not have a little fun in the kitchen baking a pie?! When we think of Autumnal desserts, one of the first things that come to mind is a warm, tasty pie with a delectable crust. Since Apple Pie is an American classic, it’s a great option to go for this time of year. To get you inspired, check out Bobby Flay’s Apple Pie Recipe on the Food Network.
Pack a Picnic & Go Exploring
To make the most of the beautiful changing scenery, pack a picnic, find a beautiful area to drive through and go on an adventure. Whether you’re in California or on the East Coast, finding gorgeous Fall foliage is easier than you think. A quick online search in your area will often lead to maps that show where and when to see Fall foliage. If you want to spend quality time with your loved ones during Fall, hitting the road and finding new places to explore is a great way to reconnect and bond. Let the mantra “Life is a journey, not a destination” be your inspiration.
Spend Time in Nature
Whether you enjoy camping or hiking, spending time in nature is one of the most spiritually and mentally restorative and rejuvenating things you can do for yourself. When life gets busy, it’s sometimes exactly when you need to take a break and go off-the-grid. As the temps start dropping and leaves change color, it’s an inspiring time to get outdoors and enjoy the simplicity and beauty of nature.
Enjoy Fireside Chats
Whether you’re hanging out with friends at a campfire or making a bonfire on the beach with your honey, enjoying fireside chats with the people you love always makes the season feel warm and cozy. Since Fall often brings us together with people, it’s a good time to relax, unwind, and gather with those who matter most to you.
